(12) IOC myself doing well on this one

Planning:

-Ok disclaimer it is 11 pm and I didn't read the instructions at the end of Mrs. Genesky's post because I didn't think I needed help so 1. my name is not on the recording (go me) and 2. it is not cut off at the 10 min mark but it's only like a minute and some over, I promise I didn't talk for like 18 minutes and if you take out my random silences while I think then it's about 10 anyway.

Scoring myself which is going to be very hard and also a mess:
A: 7-8 because the quotes chosen are appropriate, but not necessarily an excellent understanding of the book because the focus jumps around a lot and I start pulling in details that are somewhat irrelevant (like the fact that the students are clones. Not relevant.)

B: 1-2 because I didn't really focus on the actual literary devices as much as the quotes from the passages, and I didn't address effect on the reader at all. Definitely something to work on for me. Maybe I'll make a note to myself to look at the rubric first next time.

C: 4 because there was a decent structure but I lost focus a couple times and had to bring it back to what I was supposed to be focusing on. For example I started talking about Kathy's imaginary baby and going off on a tangent about that but I was still able to pull it back in quickly.

D: 3 or 4 because I didn't have many grammatical errors that I could pull out, but my sentence construction could be a little spotty- I tried to process and speak at the same time, so they weren't always 100% coherent. I also randomly paused in the middle of my sentences a lot so that doesn't help.

  1. Hey!

    A: 6
    B: 4
    C: 3
    D: 4

I'm excited to hear your real IOC- you've really thought about what you might need to work on. Some thoughts: I like the background you give and that you pretty much jump right in (be careful that you aren't spending too much time giving background)- you sound calm and organized. I think you've got a some use of devices here, but keep linking back to the overall purpose of the passage. That's really the effect. Keep thinking...why is Ishiguro doing what he's doing in the passage? How do you know? I also think you have clear organization in your planning, but thinking about the two questions I mention will help keep it more organized orally. As far as analysis/devices- use the big 5: https://www.thinkib.net/englishalanglit/page/11116/the-big-5
